Here are some great tips to help you prepare for your big day, as well as dance classes you could take.
Wedding Dance Lesson Tips
With all your other planning and possible last-minute contingencies, it’s imperative you book your dance lessons way ahead of time. We recommend a four- to six-month jump start to your dance classes, especially if you or your partner are novices.
We’d love to personalize your ideal dance, so feel free to bring your own music along. If you don’t, no worries. We’ll introduce you to the most common dance styles on your first lesson, and suggest other types too.
Understand that with great achievement comes patience, so don’t place too much pressure on each other. Instead, opt to use your wedding dance lesson as a date night.
Remember to have fun and leave the teaching to us and always wear shoes that are similar to the ones you’ll be wearing to your wedding. Try not to miss a lesson, as this means less reviews per lesson. We recommend a dance lesson once a week.
Even though you may prefer private lessons, it’s always great to try a group class. This is how you’ll get a feel for a live audience, similar to your reception. Remember that this is your gift to your partner, and that the confidence and poise you gain with our lessons, will make your first dance together truly memorable.
Exciting Wedding Dance Styles
The waltz has always been cherished as a timeless wedding day classic. It’s traditional, elegant, intimate and a favorite for formal receptions. The versatile foxtrot is perfect for romantic wedding tracks like Bobby Darin’s “Beyond the Sea,” or Andy Williams’ “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
You could also try our slow dance, also known as the nightclub two-step. Or a party-style first dance like the sizzling salsa or mambo. The sway and swing is also sure to impress your guests and get everyone in the mood to dance up a storm.
