Since the beginning of time, dance has been an integral part of human expression.
There will always been something about dance that will continue to captivate us. Dance is an innovation of art. It isn’t just a social pastime, it is about creative expression, culture, tradition, and for many people--love. Dance continues to evolve from one generation to another. Today, we embrace many forms of dance. From ballroom to hip hop, jazz to ballet, Salsa to Swing, Tango to Mambo, ancient rituals to contemporary and modern--dance has come a long way.
Whichever way you look at it, dance is a celebration of life! Twin Cities Arthur Murray will embrace the evolution of dance with our Theater Show, happening Saturday, March 30th. Tickets are $50 and $40 of each ticket sold will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). The LLS mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Each ticket includes a champagne and dessert reception during intermission!
Our Theater Show dancers will be showcasing special dance performances all the way from the early 1800’s and into the future! You will want to get up and shake it to some of the most popular dance hits from the 20’s, 50’s, 70’s and much, much more.
They will be dancing to raise funds for Twin Cities Arthur Murray’s house charity, the AM Charity Fund. Every year in honor of Jesse E. Smith, the AM CHARITY FUND contributes to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). This year we are excited to have our first AM Charity Fund THEATER SHOW!
The Arthur Murray Charity Fund was founded in memory of Jesse E. Smith in 2010. It is a tribute to his legacy as a respected member of the Ballroom community. Jesse Smith, along with his wife Lynda Smith, were U.S. American Style Ballroom Champions receiving four U.S. titles. Jesse was sought after worldwide as a dance performer, adjudicator, choreographer and coach. Jesse died at the age of 37 in 2006 from Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Lynda Smith, and children Dayton and Elyse have been actively involved with the AM Charity Fund since its inception. The Smith family and the Twin Cities Arthur Murray Dance Centers are proud to sponsor the first Theater Show, THE EVOLUTION OF DANCE. Arthur Murray professionals and amateurs will perform to raise money for LLS at the beautiful and historical Woman's Club of Minneapolis.
